Silverberry - (Elaeagnus x ebbingei)
The genus Elaeagnus includes around 45 species, among which the most interesting for the nursery trade is Elaeagnus × ebbingei.
The latter is extremely hardy and characterized by very fast growth, persistent foliage, and a highly fragrant autumn bloom (with a sweet scent) that is greatly favored by bees.
Its fast growth rate is certainly an advantage, though consequently it requires more frequent pruning compared to other species (such as Laurel).
Ideal for tall hedges, it is also widely used as standalone specimens and screening barriers.
At our Plant Center, in addition to the classic green foliage with silvery undersides, we also offer varieties with yellow-variegated leaves.
