Mastic tree - (Pistacia lentiscus L.)

The genus Pistacia is a small group consisting of only 9 species.

They are widely distributed throughout warm-temperate climate regions, perform at their best in full sun exposures, and are adaptable to all soil types.

In particular, at our Plant Center we cultivate Pistacia lentiscus L., an evergreen shrub or small tree typical of the Mediterranean maquis and forest, which can reach heights of 3 to 4 meters in its natural habitat. It features paripinnate leaves made up of 8 to 10 hairless, ovate leaflets attached to a flattened, winged rachis.

It is highly valued for its dense, compact canopy, result of its abundant branching.
