Firethorn
A species with an upright or rounded growth habit, featuring spiny branches and semi-evergreen foliage.
The flowers are numerous, small, and white, giving way from autumn through spring to the characteristic berries in shades of red to yellow.
These are hardy and vigorous plants, ideal for hedges, solitary or group plantings, shrub borders, or topiary art.
In addition to the classic species (Pyracantha coccinea), our Plant Center offers dwarf varieties (Pyracantha ‘Navaho’), ideal for low borders or planters.
During the winter, the berries provide an excellent food source for wild birds, while the dense, spiny foliage makes it an effective protective barrier.
