Lemon tree - Citrus x limoni
Another species of the genus Citrus widely cultivated for its fruit. A modest-sized tree (reaching around 3 meters), its woody branchlets are thorny, while its flowers are fragrant and white, with reddish-purple tones on the outer petals. Like the orange tree, the lemon has long been cultivated in warm temperate climates. Some varieties are everbearing, allowing flowers and fruit to be present simultaneously—a feature highly prized for ornamental purposes. As with the orange tree, in regions with harsher winters, it can only be grown in pots, taking care to protect the plant from frost and cold winter winds.
At our Plant Center, we offer several training forms: standard tree, espalier, and hoop.
