Plum tree – (Prunus sativa)

A widely grown plant cultivated since ancient times. Over time, numerous cultivars have been selected, particularly of Sino-Japanese origin.

It tolerates all soil types, including wetter and clay-heavy soils, except for excessively dry, poor, and sandy ones. The white flowers appear in March.

As with other stone fruits, the fruit ripening period depends on the variety (ranging from early varieties that ripen in July to late cultivars that mature in September).
